I Threw Away An Old Dream
It was tattered and ripped,
full of silverfish,
covered in mold,
and simply too old
to keep anymore.
I will admit, I cried a bit
and then a lot.
Like a sock
I couldn't take off
until now.
I pulled off my second skin,
this dream I lived in.
It was not mine anymore,
the dream that I wore.
When I threw it away,
I heard someone say,
"My dear, do not dismay,
a new dream is on it's way."
and though I thought I was dreaming,
it was I, who was speaking.
